Two kinds of content
JyotishDada publishes two different things, and we treat them differently. Calculated data — panchang, muhurat windows, planetary positions, festival and vrat dates, and birth-chart results — is computed by software from astronomical positions. Written content — the guides in our Learn section, festival and vrat descriptions, and explanations on tool pages — is written and edited by people.
How calculated data is produced
Astronomical positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, using the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. Tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, sunrise and sunset are calculated for each city and date rather than copied from another site. Where a rule has several accepted variants (for example the Dasha year length, or which cancellation conditions apply to Mangal Dosha), the tool states the choice it made.
Where a festival date has not yet been added to our live calculator, the page says so instead of presenting a placeholder as fact.
How guides are written
- Guides are written in our own words from standard Jyotish and panchang practice; we do not copy other sites.
- Where traditions disagree, we say so rather than picking one silently.
- Numbers and rules (for example weekday tables and tithi lengths) are checked against the calculation code on this site.
- Each guide shows an updated date and is reviewed when a rule or a tool changes.
Belief, practice and fact
Astrology is a traditional system of interpretation. We describe what the tradition says and how people use it, and we do not claim that astrological results are scientifically proven or guaranteed. Content here is not medical, legal or financial advice, and fasting or remedy guidance should be adapted to your health and circumstances.
Advertising and independence
The site is free to use. It may display advertising to cover hosting costs. Advertisers do not influence calculations or the content of our guides, and we do not sell consultations, gemstones or rituals through the calculators.
Corrections
If a timing, date or explanation looks wrong, tell us via the Contact page with the page URL, city and date. We investigate reports and correct confirmed errors, updating the date shown on the page.
