What is Vinchudo?

Vinchudo (literally "scorpion's sting") is a traditional Gujarati panchang concept marking the period when the Moon transits Vrischika Rashi (Scorpio) in the sidereal zodiac — roughly 2 to 3 days each lunar month.

The Moon is classically considered debilitated (Neecha) in Scorpio, symbolising emotional intensity and instability. During Vinchudo, some traditional Panchang calendars advise extra caution before starting significant new ventures.

Vinchudo is a distinct concept from Panchak (which is based on the Moon transiting the last five Nakshatras) — the two sometimes overlap but are calculated separately.

Notes: Vinchudo is treated here as the Moon's transit through Vrischika (Scorpio, 210-240 degrees sidereal) — a relabel of the same real Moon Rashi-ingress schedule Transit/Sankranti already use, not a separately-sourced weekday/tithi rule (this site's earlier description of Vinchudo as weekday+tithi based was investigated and found to be an unconfirmed guess, not a cited rule — corrected here). Only one dedicated source was found for this specific mechanism, corroborated by the general (uncontested) fact that Scorpio spans 210-240 degrees sidereal and that the Moon is classically debilitated there — but not independently cross-checked against a second Vinchudo-specific source. Windows are calendar-DATE boundaries at a fixed IST 06:00 reference (same day-level granularity already disclosed for Transit/Sankranti), not exact HH:MM crossing times. Covers 2015-2040 only; a query outside that range returns an empty list, not a fabricated one.
