Rashi & Longitude
Rashi is the planet's current zodiac sign in the sidereal (Lahiri Ayanamsa) system used across this site. Longitude is its position in degrees around the full 360° zodiac (0°–30° within a sign is Mesha, 30°–60° is Vrishabha, and so on).
Motion — Margi / Vakri
Margi means direct (forward) motion through the zodiac; Vakri means retrograde — the planet appears to move backward from Earth's point of view. Retrograde is a real apparent motion, not a computation error, and it's why a planet's time in a Rashi can occasionally run longer than usual or the planet can dip back into the Rashi it just left.
Status — Udita / Asta
Udita means the planet is currently visible (risen); Asta means it's combust or too close to the Sun to be observed.
In this Rashi
When it entered the current Rashi, roughly how many days remain before it moves on, and which Rashi it enters next. These come from a precomputed Rashi-ingress schedule (2015–2040) built by solving for the exact crossing date against the same Swiss Ephemeris calculation used everywhere else on this site — not a straight-line projection from today's speed. That distinction matters most for slow or retrograde planets (Saturn, Rahu, Ketu), which can reverse across a sign boundary before their real ingress date. For a date before the schedule starts, this reads "outside schedule range"; for a date after the last computed ingress, it shows the last known entry as "open-ended" rather than guessing how much longer it runs.
