Janma Lagna Calculator
Your Lagna — the zodiac sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the exact moment you were born — anchors your entire birth chart.
What is Janma Lagna?
Janma Lagna, or the birth Ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was rising on the Eastern horizon at your exact place and moment of birth. Because the Earth completes a full rotation every 24 hours, the Lagna moves through all 12 rashis in that time — roughly one sign every two hours — which is why the same day can produce twelve very different charts depending on birth time.
While your Moon sign (Chandra Rashi) reflects the mind and emotions, and your Sun sign reflects core identity, the Lagna is considered the anchor point of the entire Kundali — the 1st house it defines represents the physical body, general temperament and how you present yourself to the world. Every other house, and every planet's influence, is measured relative to this rising sign.
Because it changes so quickly, an accurate birth time is essential for a correct Lagna — more so than for almost any other chart calculation. Most professional Kundali readings begin by confirming the Lagna before moving on to planetary strengths, dashas and yogas.
