Ardra

"The moist one" / "the teardrop"

Ardra is a nakshatra of storms — intense, sometimes turbulent, but ultimately clearing and renewing, like weather that has to break before the air feels clean again.

Storm-washed and sharp at once — grief that clears the air rather than lingers in it.

Why is it called Ardra?

Its name refers to moisture/tears, tied to the monsoon star Betelgeuse and to its fierce deity Rudra, the stormy, destructive precursor form of Shiva. The pairing suggests destruction that precedes and enables renewal, not destruction for its own sake.

Degree span: 66°40′–80°00′ of the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri Ayanamsa), the same 13°20' segment convention used across this site's Panchang and Nakshatra Transit tools.
