Krittika

"The cutters"

Krittika is one of the sharpest nakshatras — ambitious, exacting, and unwilling to let sloppiness slide. It corresponds to the Pleiades star cluster and carries a burning, purifying intensity wherever it lands in a chart.

Sharp enough to cut away what doesn't serve the truth — Krittika purifies by force, not persuasion.

Why is it called Krittika?

Named after the Krittikas — six (sometimes counted as seven) star-goddesses in Hindu myth who nursed and raised the war-god Kartikeya (Skanda) after his birth. Its rulership by Agni, god of fire, reinforces the "cutting/burning away impurity" theme its name suggests.

Degree span: 26°40′–40°00′ of the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri Ayanamsa), the same 13°20' segment convention used across this site's Panchang and Nakshatra Transit tools.
