Why is Rashifal based on Moon sign instead of Sun sign?
Vedic astrology treats the Moon as the significator of the mind and day-to-day emotional experience, and it moves through the zodiac far faster than the Sun — about one sign every 2.25 days versus the Sun's roughly 30 days — which makes Moon-sign-based predictions more specific to a given day. Western newspaper horoscopes use Sun sign instead; the two systems answer different questions, not the same question two ways.
My Western zodiac sign and Vedic Rashi are different — why?
Vedic (sidereal) astrology and Western (tropical) astrology measure the zodiac from different reference points, currently about 24° apart under the Lahiri ayanamsa this site uses. That offset is enough to shift many people's sign by one position (e.g. a Western Taurus is often a Vedic Aries) — it's not an error, just two different systems.
