Tulsi Vivah is the symbolic wedding of the Tulsi (holy basil) plant, revered as Vrinda, to Shaligram, the sacred stone form of Vishnu. It is held on or after Dev Uthani Ekadashi, most commonly on Dwadashi, and any day up to Kartik Purnima is accepted.
Families decorate the Tulsi plant like a bride and perform the wedding rituals in the evening, often with a small canopy and wedding songs. It is also seen as the start of the Hindu wedding season.
Unites Tulsi with Vishnu in his Shaligram form and opens the traditional season for human marriages after Chaturmas.
Maharashtra & Gujarat
Observed in homes and temples, closely following Prabodhini Ekadashi.
North India

Tulsi Vivah 2026 mein Saturday, 21 November ko hai (New Delhi ke panchang ke anusaar). Tithi: Kartik, Shukla Paksha, Dwadashi. Yeh tithi 06:31 AM, Nov 21 se 04:57 AM, Nov 22 tak rehti hai. Apne shehar ke hisaab se samay thoda alag ho sakta hai.
Most Hindu festivals are set by the lunar Hindu calendar (a specific Tithi within a specific lunar month), not the solar Gregorian calendar used internationally. Since a lunar year runs roughly 11 days shorter than a solar year, the same Tithi lands on a different Gregorian date each year — this is normal and expected, not an error.
